Bring the whole family for a day of great Downtown activities. There are endless ways you can play Downtown, but here are a few itineraries to get you started.
Saturday Fun
Begin your morning at the Main Library explore a garden of books in the Children’s Department, grab a cozy seat for story-time and get crafty with free arts and crafts. After wetting your palette for art, walk next door to MOCA Jacksonville for their ArtExplorium Loft and get a hands-on experience at the sixteen interactive art stations. So much excitement can work up an appetite. Take a stroll down Laura Street towards the St. John’s River and eat at one of the great dining spots along the way or at The Jacksonville Landing. After lunch, take the River Taxi across the St. Johns River for a whole new view of the city, and land at the beautiful Friendship Fountain on the Southbank. Walk over to Museum of Science and History (MOSH) where exciting science and history exhibits are made just for kids! Adventure into space at the MOSH planetarium, take a trip back in time at the dinosaur exhibit and see live animals native to Northeast Florida. To end the day step on the Skyway for an
aerial view of the city and a hassle-free trip back to the Main Library where your exciting day started.
A Sunday Family Afternoon
Sundays are great days to get the family together for an exciting afternoon of fun Downtown. Depending on the season, you can take the family to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville for an afternoon Suns game or the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium for a Jaguars game. Afterwards head over to Kids Kampus where young ones can climb, slide or drive the playscapes of the water park or the mini-Downtown. This is a great place for kids to stimulate their creative side while learning educational skills and Downtown landmarks!
