What is a Parklet?

A parklet is a small, semi-permanent public park constructed in one or more parallel parking spaces. Sponsored, designed, built and maintained by private entities, they provide a place for passersby to relax and enjoy the city around them. Parklets incorporate seating, bike racks, shade and safety features and improve the street for local businesses, residents and visitors.

Parklets in DTJax

Downtown Vision, Downtown Investment Authority, ULI North Florida partnered to fund and hire a consultant team to create a parklet program handbook that will allow sponsors to create parklets in DTJax. The first parklet under the new program is located on Adams Street in front of the Ed Ball Building. It is sponsored by The Brick Coffee House and Downtown Vision.

The Parklet Program Manual will be available soon. In the meantime, for additional information, please contact, Jennifer Hewett-Apperson.
